About Ruba Chihabi

Hello! I’m Ruba (she/her/hers) - Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), License #19051

Thank you for stopping by to learn more about me. I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a Master of Arts in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy from Wilfrid Laurier University. Before becoming a therapist, I spent close to ten years working in finance and government services and volunteering with refugee communities both locally and internationally. Having grown up with many cultural influences, I bring a perspective that helps me appreciate the realities people face across different communities and life stages.

I welcome clients of all backgrounds, faith traditions, and identities. My practice is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally responsive. I honour the wisdom of your lived experience and adapt therapy to your values, language, and cultural context. I am also attentive to the unique stresses of migration, intergenerational dynamics, and navigating multiple cultural worlds.

I am bilingual in Arabic and English and offer therapy in either language.

  • I’ve seen how powerful it can be to feel truly heard and supported. When someone creates space for you to be yourself without judgment, it can change everything. We all need a place where our story matters and our emotions are met with care, not criticism.

What led me to become a therapist was a deep belief in the importance of connection. It makes a real difference to have someone walking beside you during the hard or confusing parts of life. That kind of support can help us feel less alone and more able to face what’s ahead.

  • You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to begin. That’s okay. Therapy doesn’t require you to have all the answers, it just asks that you show up. I’ll meet you right there.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and flexible. Together, we’ll create space to slow down, explore what’s going on beneath the surface, and make sense of the patterns, emotions, or struggles you may be carrying. You set the pace. I bring curiosity, care, and tools that fit your unique needs.

To support our work, I draw from several evidence-based approaches:

    • Psychodynamic Therapy – Helps us explore how early experiences and relationships may be shaping your current patterns and emotional responses.

    • Internal Family Systems (IFS) – Guides us in getting to know the different “parts” of you, some that protect, some that carry pain, so you can experience more inner harmony and self-compassion.

    • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) – Helps strengthen your sense of emotional safety in relationships, allowing for deeper connection with others and with yourself.

    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – Offers practical tools for managing overwhelming emotions, improving communication, and navigating difficult moments with more confidence.

Through this process, you can begin to understand yourself more fully, connect the dots, and move toward the life you want with greater clarity and self-trust.

  • In my life outside of the therapy room, I’m often drawn to the same things I value in therapy itself, quiet moments, fresh perspective, and meaningful connection. Whether I’m walking a local trail, reading a book, or listening to thoughtful conversations about the human experience, I’m drawn to what helps me pause and take things in more fully. These slower, grounding moments help me show up in session feeling present, curious, and open to whatever you bring.

I’m especially interested in what shapes us, what gives life meaning, and how we build deeper relationships with ourselves and others. Spending time with these ideas reminds me that none of us have it all figured out, we are all learning and finding our way. Therapy can be one of the few spaces where you are invited to slow down, ask bigger questions, and be honest about what feels hard. My hope is to offer a space that feels grounded, supportive, and attuned to your pace, so you can make sense of where you’ve been and feel more confident about where you’re going.
